Essential Tools at Your Fingertips
Being efficient while on duty means having the right tools at your disposal. The Bullrush puts essentials at your fingertips to cut a seat belt or remove a license plate. The spring-loaded plier jaws are sized for effective use; they’ll grip a rusty bolt firmly and snip electrical wires with ease. Searching for the right component is frustrating, so Gerber made all the folding components accessible without having to open the tool and includes an integrated wedge lock to avoid accidental closure while putting them to use. To top it off, a matte black finish adds a stealth, professional element to the tool’s appearance and function.

5 Star Multitool
Response Police Officer
Pros: Great ergonomics. Good quality tools.
Cons: Not sure the finish will hold up long term.
When I first opened the Gerber Bullrush, I straight away liked the appearance, it felt grippy as well as being light in my hand for the size and well made. All the tools opened smoothly and relatively easily and stayed very firmly locked into place.
The Bullrush is ideal for Police/Security roles as all the tools, except the pliers, are accessible without opening the Bullrush up making it handy to use when needed in quick situations and it features everything you are likely to need in a hurry.
The coating on the tools look like it will hold up well and protect them from rust but I have some doubts as to how long the Bullrush will stay black for as after prolonged use, I think the coating will start to come off. This wouldn’t affect the tools use though so is something I am not particularly worried with.
The locking mechanism on the tools is really simple to use and locks the tools securely in place when being used which offers good piece of mind although due to the relatively compact nature of the Bullrush, you may struggle with the locking mechanism whilst wearing gloves. All the tools on the Bullrush are locking, including the blade so just be conscious that you will have to have a reason for carrying it in public.
Pliers: The pliers seem very sturdy with a solid spring mechanism and are of a decent size for a compact tool. I found the tool to have a nice shape to it for use of the pliers and they do sit quite well in your hand. When fully open though, people with smaller hands may struggle a little bit!
The pliers also feature a wire cutter which I have not yet used but with the quality of everything else so far, I have no doubt these would do the job more than adequately.
Knife: The knife is sharp straight out of the box and it goes through most things with ease including some half decent thickness of rope. It has both a straight and serrated blade on it making it great for a variety of jobs. As with other multi tools, it will probably require fairly regular sharpening though.
Strap Cutter: I am pleased to say that I have not had to use this yet in a situation where it is needed but I did use it on a friend’s car that was being scrapped and it went through the seat belt with relative ease.
Screwdrivers: The Bullrush has both a flathead and Phillips screw driver and both are a good size for a compact tool. They are more than capable of doing small little jobs without having to get a toolbox out including changing the headlight in one of the job cars where normally a mechanic screw driver would have to be dug out from somewhere.
Sheath: The Bullrush comes in a nice sheath which can be worn in a variety of different ways including both horizontally and vertically on a belt and with a MOLLE system making it suitable for most people.
Overall, I would recommend this tool to anyone in a first responder type role as it appears well made, features everything you are likely to need and is small and light enough to carry on you without you noticing whilst coping with most jobs you are likely to need it for.
