Hold footing brilliantly
Reece Mann, Security Dog Handler
Opening the box you are met with a good looking well-constructed boot packaged as professionally as you would expect. As a security dog handler I require certain attributes to get on with my patrol boots. Quality – fit – lacing speed – waterproofing. Taking the boots out the box, the first thing I noticed was the 9inch high boot mainly used eyelets as opposed to hooks for the lacing method. Slipping the boot on you are met with a heavenly cloud like inner sole. They almost resemble the construction on bubble wrap in their feel. Whatever the comparison, a very nice feel for your feet! According to the manufacturer ‘Robusta’ they are specially designed to aid blood flow in the feet to make wearing them a pleasant experience. Lacing the boots up was awkward. There are 18 eyelets to thread the boot laces through. 10 of these needs removing and fitting each time you wear the boots. A hook method would have been ideal to speed up the process. Once I put these boots on I wear them for at least 14 hours so the lacing issue isn’t so bad. I am a true size 11 yet these boots seemed too roomy. I had to try a pair of size 10 Marmol’s just to make sure my feet hadn’t spontaneously changed size. The size 10 was too small as expected. After deciding on the size 11’s it was noticeable how much extra room there was in the front end of the boot in height and width, I can see this being a problem for some people but in all honesty did not hinder me performing my duties. Once on and laced up the extra high leg is noticeable as you walk feeling closely laced up against your leg. I could operate at full function with this but some would be impaired. I tested these boots on all terrains possible. At no point during the tests did the non-slip boot give way or show any whispers to that effect. In fact they held there footing brilliantly. Despite taking these all the way to the top with water and trialling them in snow, mud, rain and gravel conditions, just 5 minutes with a polishing brush they looked fit to be front of house footwear again. I was distinctly impressed with the leathers seemingly lack of fade. With most high end boots once worn for a hour a leather fatigue line appears parallel across the toe area but not with these. After a few weeks of trialling there was in fact no wear and tear ‘marks’ to speak of. Patrol store are selling these boots at £109.99 with a RRP of £145.95. That’s a great saving on the manufacturers RRP. I wasn’t able to compare prices on these boots with other retailers as there are currently exclusive to patrol store. However similar boots with Patrolstore.com do seem to retail cheaper. It’s time for Robusta to make a name for themselves in the UK.Delivery Information
